TIES Core Values

Equity

TIES recognizes that there are educational barriers for disadvantaged children arising from bias and systemic structures. All children do not start from the same place when it comes to educational opportunities and academic resources. TIES works to address these imbalances and level the playing field.

Opportunity

TIES provides preferential educational opportunities to children living in under-resourced communities. We believe that children living in poverty should also have access to the best educational institutions. Students work better in diverse settings, and smaller class sizes, with opportunities for advanced coursework and individualized instruction. TIES team members believe that poor children should receive the same opportunities, encouragement, expectations, and resources as affluent children.

Partnership

TIES partners with schools, teachers, parents, donors, and volunteers. We believe that true partnerships are egalitarian and structured to remove inequality based on age, gender, race, income, class, or status.

Community

TIES organization works diligently to build nurturing and enduring relationships with our students and families to surround them with a community of hope, inspiration, and resources. These relationships facilitate academic excellence and social development.
